OffSight CSM Pop-Up Show _8-10 June 2011_Exhibition
There was an Off Sight exhibition at Camp near Old street tube station which is by students from Central Saint Martins. There were a lot of great work such as print and bookbinding work. There was a sale as well.
OFF-SIGHT is an exhibition celebrating print and bookbinding work by BA(Hons) Graphic Design students from Central Saint Martins.
Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design is in the process of moving to a new, larger and collective site at Kings Cross. Recently a decision to move the BA Graphic Design print and bookbinding facilities off site to the Byam Shaw building in Archway has been made. Many feel that this would have a detrimental effect on the Graphic Design course, as the workshops are the pulsating source of the course. The Workshops are the space where students and staff exchange and share ideas, create and discuss.
The exhibition reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the course, combining digital and physical practices. We show screen prints, mono-prints, woodcuts, etching, bookbinding and work that has been created during the protest that has been going on since February.
The students hope to recreate the sense of community and creativity that is experienced in the workshops, that will soon disappear from site and sight. from sight and thought.
Alongside the exhibition will be a 3 day pop up shop run by BA Graphic Design second year students, From 8-10 June. The shop will sell a variety of bespoke and handmade products and all funds will go towards the degree show next year.
